Faz is an ex Ship’s Master and a qualified lawyer in England & Wales. Faz’s experience spans over three decades. Having worked at sea on tankers, container vessels & bulk carriers, and as a Maritime Lawyer, gives him a unique perspective when it comes to approaching the problems faced in today’s challenging shipping market. His experience also encompasses leading a shipping team at a major international law firm and leading an insurance company as CEO. Senior Marine Manager
Matt is an ex-mariner and has over 10 years working at sea, working on different types of tankers, including, oil/product, crude and LNG. He sailed up to the rank of Chief Officer and also worked ashore in the operations department of a large oil major. He joined a major London law firm, in 2010, as a casualty marine investigator and claims handler within their shipping practice. Matt regularly attends maritime casualties including; collisions, groundings, fire and explosions, container ship fires (including IMDG), heavy weather damage, total loss, cargo damage, dangerous cargo issues, unsafe ports, MARPOL violations, offshore collisions and salvage. Matt also supports Owners, Ship Managers and their Crew in the local management of a casualty and assists in the attendance and investigations of International bodies, local authorities and third-parties. Ian is a Master Mariner. With over 10 years working at sea on vessels carrying RoRo, Containers and General Cargo he joined a major London law firm as a casualty marine investigator and claims handler within their shipping practice. Ian has worked on all manner of Admiralty cases, including major collisions, groundings, fires and total losses. Ian regularly attends ships in the immediate aftermath of an incident to gather evidence and assist in witness statement taking, always bringing a commercially minded approach to our clients’ projects. James has worked at sea for many years and has worked in the chartering, operations and claims department of a large London ship owner and as a senior investigator and claims handler for a top tier maritime law firm.
James has dealt with a variety of matters including collisions, groundings, salvage, unsafe port claims, total loss, fire and pollution incidents on a worldwide basis, including almost 10 years working in the Far East. Robert is a Master Mariner with over 16 years’ experience of working at sea. Having gained experience on a diverse range of vessels in both the deep sea and offshore sector up to Senior Deck Officer rank, Robert is well placed to conduct investigations on all types of deep sea vessels. Notably, Robert has also worked extensively on Dynamic Positioning vessels specialising in sub-sea operations within the offshore sector. Having worked ashore for four years in law enforcement earlier in his career, Robert combined interviewing, investigating and evidence gathering skills with his seafaring experience when he joined a leading London law firm. His background in law enforcement also provides a significant advantage when we deal with investigations by the MCA and other law enforcement agencies around the world. Robert has worked on a range of Admiralty cases including collisions, groundings, cargo disputes, MARPOL violations and salvage claims. He has collected evidence on numerous cases and has also performed as a Mr Fixit in many jurisdictions. Email
Rebecca is a qualified solicitor in England & Wales, and has worked in a leading London shipping firm since 2014. She specialises in admiralty law, advising in relation to a wide variety of admiralty matters, including collisions, groundings, fires and explosions.
Rebecca has acquired a strong background in incident response and has experience of co-ordinating and managing large teams – both in order to minimise Owners’ exposure in the immediate aftermath of an incident and subsequent litigation. Joe is solicitor, and has worked at a leading London shipping firm since 2016. He specialises in advising in relation to a wide variety of wet and dry shipping matters, including terminal damage claims, collisions, charterparty disputes, and groundings.
Joe has acquired experience in casualty response, and has conducted investigations aboard a variety of vessels across the world, from the Yangtze River to the English Channel.
